David Moyes has received support from his summer signing Marouane Fellaini, who has stated that the former Everton manager is like a father figure to him. He has also stated that Moyes needs more time in order to make Manchester United successful once again. After years of success under Sir Alex Ferguson, the club are struggling under Moyes for any consistency. As a result, they find themselves outside the top four and out of all the opportunities to win a trophy this campaign. It also looks highly likely that they will miss out on Champions League football, which brings in a revenue of more than £ 30 million every season.
This is likely to increase the problems at United, who were already burdened with huge interest payments and debts. Fellaini was brought in from Everton on the deadline of the last transfer window. He was signed for £ 27 million, but he has had only limited impact at the club. Fellaini says that the time given to Ferguson made him successful and that Moyes should also receive the same because he has provided over the years that he is a great manager. The Scot spent 11 years at Everton where he over achieved with limited funds.
He was the reason behind Fellaini’s arrival to Goodison Park for £ 15 million a few years ago.
“What makes United different is that they stand by managers. You look at the career of Sir Alex Ferguson and he managed the club 26 years. You have to give David Moyes time as well. He is a strong character. That’s why he can take the pressure. Given time he will be good for Manchester United. Man United had the same manager for 26 years – to change that is not easy for anyone. The supporters and everybody else has to give him time,” said the midfielder.
