Despite having splashed out €90 million in signing Paul Pogba from Juventus, it seems like the summer transfer window is far from over for Manchester United as Jose Mourinho is still interested in signing a few more players.
One of these players that Mourinho was setting his sights on was Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane but signing the highly rated French defender is not going to be a task that Manchester United is likely to pull through as Varane has already voiced his desire to continue performing for Real Madrid as he has no intentions of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu anytime soon.
Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane said: ‘’I trust the club and I trust the coach. I talked with him a lot and he trusts me so it’s one of the reasons I stayed. I made the decision to stay, the right decision. I’ll continue to improve and I want this to be a good season for me and to be at my best’’
This statement confirms Varane’s intentions to stay with Real Madrid as he stated to have already talked with ZinedineZidane and it seems like the French manager does intend to use Varane on a consistent basis.
Jose Mourinho has already reinforced the defensive department of Manchester United after having offloaded €30 million in signing Eric Bailly from Villareal.
Eric Bailly is a 22 year old Ivorian centre-back who made his competitive debut for the Premier League club back on August 7 as he helped Manchester United in claiming a 2-1 triumph over Leicester City and he was named as man of the match in his debut game.
Even after having signed Eric Bailly, Mourinho wanted to bring more defensive players to his squad and he was attracted by the set of skills that Raphael Varane has to offer but it seems like the French defender is out of the reach of Manchester United.
