Premier League giants Manchester City would appear before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over their involvement in the case involving teenage sensation Benjamin Garre from Argentina.
A South American side Velez Sarsfield is appealing a case that FIFA ruled in favour of City.
The club complained about how the player moved to the Etihad in 2016 but the world soccer governing body found no fault. CAS has fixed July 3 as the hearing date for the appeal with the three parties expected to appear.
Velez is saying that City breached FIFA rules on how they acquired the youngster as he was a minor that was signed from outside the European Union. City claims that the player has an Italian passportso there was no fault to the move after his 16th birthday.
Manchester City has favoured youngsters more of recent. Gabriel Jesus is having a great run at the club. Manchester United defender Daley Blind has been a major reason towards the resurgence that the team has experienced in the last few weeks. They have managed to win three consecutive matches, but one of the biggest tests will come in the form of a home match against Manchester City. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have not been convincing away from home this season. This is clearly witnessed from their current away form. City have lost their last four trips away from the Etihad stadium in all competitions. Despite this,Blind is not expecting anything other than a very tough encounter on Sunday evening.
Blind got his first taste of the Manchester derby in the first half of the campaign and it ended in a sour note for United. They lost their fourth consecutive match against their arch rivals. Determined to improve on this very poor record,Blind says that United can dig into the confidence that they have built over the last few weeks in order to get a victory. Liverpool will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of seeing United drop points. There are a number of players that are reaching the end of their respective contracts and this is the case of: Robin van Persie, Phil Jones, David de Gea, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Rafael da Silva, Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez and Anders Lindegaard.
Louis van Gaal has to start considering whether or not to extend the contract of those players which will be expiring in 2016.
Out of those players previously mentioned, David de Gea has been the only one that has managed to stand out with a string of impressive performances and the Spanish goal-keeper surely deserves to have his contract extended and remain at Old Trafford if he desires on doing so.
